Author John MacDonald - Siesta Key

The recent posting about the beach at Siesta Key, Florida reminded me of the writer John D. MacDonald, a longtime Siesta Key resident, and a wonderful writer. If you have not heard of him or read any of his dozens of books, you are in for a real treat. The books in the series featuring Travis McGee, with a color in each title, are real page turners. Mama Gator!!!

Note to Craig.  When the sign says beware Aggressive Mother Alligator,  BEWARE!!! I was walking along the Legacy golf path when I saw the sign. Naturally I went up to see if there was a gator, and there WAS!  She shot out to get me.  She almost got me.  My photos were not very good as I scrambled away . She had lots of baby alligators next to her. I had thought that she would exhibit professional courtesy, since we are both Green Amphibious Marines. She must not have gotten the memo.
